Learn the art of natural solar dyeing with textile artist Helen MacRitchie and make your own nature dye jar to take home.
Discover the beauty of extracting dye colour from natural sources to colour yarn and fabrics. Many trees such as the willows and figs growing at Kelmscott can be coaxed into releasing beautiful dye colours.
In this workshop we will be solar dyeing – learning how to dye fabric and yarn samples from plants using only the power of the sun, and taking home your own little dyepot in a jar to see the magic happen on your windowsill.
