Sharon Rich, Stone Sculptor Biography
Sharon has been a creative stone carver since 2007. Each sculpture is unique and is created using hand tools – the traditional way.
She works in Limestone, Cornish Slate and occasionally Alabaster and Soapstone. More recently she has incorporated the use of leaded stained glass into her sculpture work. The glass work is also traditionally made using hand drawn designs and hand tools.
Her work reflects her love of nature, ancient folklore and a strong Celtic influence from her Cornish origins.
“I love working with stone and glass. The two fit so well together with a pleasing effect. This is a primal and physical process with the finished pieces “having soul” and emanating a sense of calm.”
Sharon is currently a member of West Ox Arts and Oxfordshire Artweeks. She regularly exhibits at Avebury Manor NT, Wiltshire and Newark Park NT , Gloucestershire and her work can be seen on a permanent basis in the Dolphin Gallery, Wantage.
She has been awarded “Best Contemporary Sculptor” 2023 by the Warwickshire Advertiser.
